EVERYWORD - Spring in our House!

by Ps Chris Pringle

Last month, I travelled into Uganda on a “voyage of Love.” My bags were packed with high expectations of “God moments” …and I was not disappointed!

I believe that some of our richest moments can be found in the darkest of places. We just need to have eyes to see and ears to hear what the Holy Spirit might have for us.

Too often, we see only what is on the surface… we are too busy to “dig a little deeper” and our full and prosperous lives can be thief to new and startling moments.

I met a young woman called Alice in Uganda. She is tall, beautiful and strong of heart. She also has sorrow, shame and good reason to hang her head low for the things she has seen and done and other things she had no power to stop. She was forced to watch her mother being raped. But Jesus rescued Alice. She began to heal and be restored.

She heard about the children in a place called Padar, children so traumatised by what they too had seen and been made to do, and she decided to do something.

She could have retreated. But she looked her fears in the face and with The Lord in her heart took these young boys and girls into her heart and began to minister to them.

The moment I met Alice her courage won me. Her humility challenged me. We drove to see her at Padar. On arriving, she ran to greet me and with excitement told me a baby had just been born and asked if I would I come and name her. Many of the girls are pregnant from rape and many are HIV/AIDs positive.

I took this little baby in my arms and prayed. Her innocent face looked at me in wonder. There was no pain there. She has a hope and a future…because one young woman cared for her, and took her young mother in. This little baby is called Christine Joy. She represents a new day for the children of Padar who have suffered so much.

Psalm 30:5 says,“weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning” God is in the midst of our pain - He is not turned from it. He takes it in His arms and heals it.

Be like Alice. Let God turn your situation around. You can say with her, “Behold the winter is gone, the time of singing of the birds is come” and the turtle-dove ( The Holy Spirit ) is heard in our land!

We can all make a difference to someone, somewhere.

Take the future in your arms, like the beautiful gift of life … value it … and name it!

xxxxx my love always Chris
